In depth

Verdict

In the Royal Artillery Gold Cup, Whitenzo is selected ahead of Back Nine. It's quite simple really: Last year's winner of this race, Whitenzo, is the highest rated runner in the contest and, having had a pipe-opener 15 days ago, looks to have been primed to land this contest again. The next-best rated is Back Nine - who is rated 120 compared to Whitenzo's 126 - and he rates a solid player based on his highly-encouraging seasonal return at Wincanton. Best of the rest could prove to be Temple Dog, who could be considered on his old form but, for today, Whitenzo gets the nomination.
