In depth

Verdict

Rod Millman farms these amateur riders’ races here and runs a couple in this. Becky Smith partners SIR RODERIC and he looks the stable pick bidding for a ninth career victory. The eight-year-old usually races over shorter trips but has won over a mile in the past and he was just beaten at Chepstow last month off today’s mark. Takeonefortheteam is still 7lb higher than when scoring at Doncaster in the spring but his rider claims 5lb and Fern O’Brien takes the same amount off Order Of St John, who has won two of his last three. Only The Brave is visored after just coming up short at Carlisle and also warrants respect.
