    Verdict

The short list contains Trompette, Queen Of Iceni, Maystock and Aoninch, with the vote given to Queen Of Iceni. Much as the selection did not seem to get home at Nottingham last time, she still ran pretty well and, on what still seems a favourable mark, the drop in trip can see her in a better light today. Pine Cone has been running consistently and, only lightly raced, a step up in trip might even bring about some more improvement. On 2004 form, Sunisa would come into the reckoning, but Love Always has become disappointing since winning her maiden, although at least her mark has dropped as a consequence. Almah has been doing ok over hurdles and was rated a lot higher on the Flat back in 2004, while winning hurdler Trompette is interesting from the Nicky Henderson yard, not least because of her French Flat form prior to arriving in Lambourn. An all-weather winner, Ti Adora's 12-furlong Windsor run from a pound higher mark last October was not bad and it would be no surprise to see her go well. Maystock has to carry a penalty for her Warwick win but, even with that taken into consideration, she remains one pound below her all-weather winning mark, and it would be folly not to give all due consideration. Funnily enough, though, Aoninch is five pounds better off for the head that she beat her over course and distance last August. It all adds up to an interesting race, with Queen Of Iceni getting the vote.
