In depth

Verdict

In the opener, Boomtown is the selection ahead of Captain Royale and Duke Of Touraine. Boomtown is well-related and hails from the Mark Johnston yard so has to be greatly respected based on these points and the fact that he looked a surefire future winner when second on his Redcar debut. Captain Royale was a little disappointing on his debut but this 56,000 guineas purchase looks sure to improve on that and should be considered. Duke Of Touraine also has likeable breeding, being a son of Linamix that cost 36,000 guineas as a two-year-old and he could be interesting on his debut. A son of Hawk Wing, Whaston cost 80,000 euros as a yearling and is another to consider, but Choisette will need to build on her debut run if she is to play a meaningful part in today's race. Of the others, the Kevin Ryan-trained newcomer Cobo Bay is one to watch out for in the betting and Discanti has shown promise but, for the selection, we will stick with Boomtown.
