        Verdict

        Brockfield had been knocking on the door prior to starting favourite at Newcastle but has crept up the weights, despite not winning. Royal Trooper looked to be on the way back at Doncaster earlier this month but could find this trip on the sharp side nowadays so the vote goes to CITY OF THE KINGS. He won this last year off a 2lb higher mark and often runs well here. Ollie Pears' seven-year-old should be approaching peak fitness now and has the ground in his favour today. Desert Romance, Maven and Law To Himself could all figure if at their best and look the pick of the remainder.
