William Haggas has a tremendous record with his runners in Ripon maidens and the handler will be hoping that ORNATE can add to that tally. The colt was the subject of plenty of confidence ahead of his debut at Windsor, and he should be capable of building upon that performance. Sign of The Kodiac was outclassed in the Coventry Stakes, but he almost poached a Haydock maiden on his return to more realistic company, and he can take a hand on this occasion. Crombay could be a factor if leaving behind a disappointing run at York while Wizardess holds entries in a number of the sales races later in the year. David Barron is yet to realise the kind of figures he posted with last season's juveniles so any market interest in Rantan would be significant.
