Verdict

Not a race that will take much winning and this appears a good opportunity for Miss Mirage to open her account while Winthorpe and Royal Advocate look best of the remainder to have raced previously. The selection showed signs of inexperience on her debut at Chester when never sighted after a slow start behind the well regarded Chic. However, the daughter of Alhaarth showed she is progressing along the right lines when finishing a creditable fourth behind a potentially smart performer at Salisbury last week. The Barry Hills-trained filly displayed plenty of pace on the latter occasion and it is to be hoped she will be given a positive ride from the front, in which case the three-year-old should prove hard to peg back from a favourable low draw. Winthorpe ran well when narrowly denied in a handicap over course and distance late last month but had her limitations exposed when easily held next time off a mark of 65 and the ground may prove livelier than ideal for John Quinn's charge. Royal Advocate showed nothing on her first two starts in useful maiden company but showed a little more sparkle last time and may reach a place while newcomers Raccoon and Abellabrig are worth noting in the market.
