In depth

Verdict

This looks a fairly hot early season handicap with a number of improving horses who may still be a step or two ahead of the handicapper. Both Macadamia and Scalado boast solid form and could well be better than they have shown so far, Macadamia having been particularly impressive when scoring at Redcar towards the end of last season. Sovereign Nation is a sporting selection though and could prove good value as he hails from an unfashionable yard (T Keddy) but has solid form in the book. His close third at Lingfield in good company last time reads well (Atlantic Quest second) as he looked to have plenty of improvement in him and the booking of Jamie Spencer is significant. Atlantic Quest is sure to be thereabouts again and must be respected as must Common Thought who overcame trouble in running to score at Lingfield last year.
