In depth

Verdict

In the finale, we very much like the look of Meadaaf, with Alaloof and Classic Event possibly the ones to chase him home. The selection looked progressive when winning a Classified Stakes race at Brighton last time and can add to that good impression here. A handicap mark of 75 hardly seems excessive, all things considered, and with Kieren Fallon also booked, well, the case is not a difficult one to make even though he has nearly two furlongs further to travel today. Alaloof left the impression he was improving when staying on well at Bath last time and, along with Gold Card, has done enough to suggest he has place claims, while Classic Event, with Kevin Darley booked, is the type to improve at this sort of trip this season. Desert Daisy showed promise in her first couple of starts but there is no guarantee on breeding that this trip will suit her, and Siegfried's Night's form is only of around the high 50s mark. While he looks to have a race in him, The King Of Rock has often flattered to deceive and, like his dam, might never be able to find just the right trip. The others look to have a bit to find overall which leads us back to Meadaaf, who is a pretty confident selection.
