In depth

Verdict

Petrula gets the call here, with Silvaline and Rifleman also catching our eyes in a tricky affair to evaluate. The selection ran a cracker on his seasonal return when beating all bar Guilded Flyer in a competitive handicap at Chester. Much as he has been raised three pounds for that effort, he drops back to his favoured trip today and should go well. Rifleman is now back to a four-pound lower mark than when winning under today's rider at this track last April. Admittedly, that was over a mile but he has shown that he stays this longer trip, is generally consistent and looks set to go well, although the draw could have been kinder. David Loder's Anglo Saxon is entitled to improve on his reappearance run at Bath and, lightly raced, should have better to come. Leighton could be interesting with Richard Quinn booked and cheekpieces fitted for the first time, while Broadway Score is very well-handicapped based on his Kempton win last April, although eight runs since have produced very little. Most of Intricate Web's winning form has come on Wolverhampton's all-weather but he is back to a winning Turf mark. Silvaline is only three pounds higher than when achieving his best winning mark and should come on for his pleasing Epsom return last time in a better event and, with Kieren Fallon booked and well-boxed in stall 13, he also looks set to go well. As we say, it's competitive, but Petrula might just provide the answer.
