Trainer David Evans gives punters a bit of a conundrum here with his pairing Blues Forever and DR MATHIAS, and we will side with the latter, while So Bazaar and Dean Irracht are considered. The selection won a Ffos Las claimer over a mile last year and acts well on a sound surface. He ran a decent race in context when beaten four lengths into sixth in a Kempton handicap off a mark of 68 in February, and despite being 3lbs worse off with his stablemate than if this were a handicap, we will side with the Hanagan-ridden participant. Blues Forever drops back in trip after being thrashed over 1m 4f at Wolverhampton last time. This is his first try on turf, so we don't quite know how he will act, but a 5lb rise for that 11-length defeat is hard to fathom and makes him harder to fancy. So Bazaar should appreciate this step up in trip and relishes quicker conditions. He should be very competitive from today's mark of 61, but might just find a couple too good. Dean Irracht represents a yard going well and has gone close to winning here before. He can't be ruled out, although he has yet to break his maiden in 18 attempts and the percentage call is still to oppose him. Ask Dan would prefer slower ground to be seen to best effect and Dr Mathias gets our vote.
