    Verdict

A very tricky opener at Ripon and, with the top rated horse on a mark of just 58, this will not take too much winning. However, a chance is taken that Victory Park is capable of giving weight away at this level and the David Nicholls-trained filly edges the vote over Petite Mac, Singularity and Mystery Pips. The selection has a useful turn of foot on her day, which was blunted by the underfoot conditions at Thirsk in her last outing. The turning of the ground for today's meeting should see Victoria Park in a much better light and Tom Eaves, who is making quite a name for himself in the north, takes a handy 5lb off her back here. Mystery Pips may be the one to chase the partnership home.
