A potentially trappy handicap here where Soul Mountain can probably prevail, while Tencendur and Doillar Chick should both improve for the step up in trip and neither Deadline nor Smugglers Bay can be totally written off. Soul Mountain did not run as a juvenile but has seen plenty of action at three, and has performed consistently well over this trip including when not far away over c&d last time. Fast ground suits and a repeat of either of her last couple of starts will probably be good enough. Tencendur steps up from a mile here and was winning over 7f as recently as last month. Nevertheless the gelding is bred for stamina too and can probably go well here. The same can be said of Dollar Chic, who perhaps needed her recent run after a lengthy absence and it would be no surprise to see a very different effort here. Deadline hails from an in-form yard but is perhaps a little high in the weights, while Smugglers Bay's chance would improve if the rains came. The opposite is the case for Redcar maiden winner Jibajaba who may improve for a furlong further now, but preference is for Soul Mountain.
