Top weight Granston only just missed out on running in the Lincoln itself and while having a pedigree that suggests this ground would suit, James Bethell's gelding better form is on a faster surface so preference is for Wavertree Warrior who gets the vote ahead of Barathea Dreams. The selection has shown gradual improvement on the all-weather of late and has form under testing conditions so is entitled to be thereabouts from what would appear to be a favourable draw. Everest will not mind the conditions but seems to be plenty high enough in the weights, while Boundless Prospect would prefer a faster surface. Dhaular Dhar will relish the underfoot conditions but does not seem to be the most reliable of performers. A market move for Mezuzah would be of interest but he could be better drawn and of more interest may be Alfonso, who is set to go up 4lbs in future handicaps, has form with cut in the ground and appears to have a decent draw in stall 21. Last year's winner Barathea Dreams has to be considered off just a 6lb higher mark today but the vote goes to Wavertree Warrior, who has plenty going for him.
