Verdict

Auvergnat was still travelling well enough when unseating Rachael Blackmore at Cheltenham eight days ago but jockey bookings here suggest Colour Squadron, an easy winner of an Open at Kilfeacle last month after a long absence, is the preferred of Enda Bolger’s three runners. Ballyboker Bridge has every chance on his second to Cantlow here in November, though is closely matched with Auvergnat on today’s terms. USUEL SMURFER just failed to overhaul On His Own in a point-to-point at Tinahely last month and Katie Walsh keeps the partnership intact. It may be worth risking that Alan Fleming’s mare takes to these obstacles as she’ll strip fitter here. First Lieutenant was a class act in his day but is not the force of old.
