Verdict

AGE OF EMPIRE comfortably landed a York maiden and will find this less daunting than the Coventry Stakes where he performed with credit behind Buratino. Chester winner Young John was a few lengths behind and may be better with a bit of give in the ground. Buratino is trained by Mark Johnston who has Gold Medallion engaged here and the Leicester winner will have made good progress. Ripon maiden winner Dodgy Bob couldn't quite hold off Tawdheef at Chepstow but there was no disgrace in that while Mon Beau Visage showed real battling qualities to get the better of Risk Adjusted at Redcar and the form has worked out nicely.
