        Verdict

        This looks very competitive with six of the entries having won over course and distance and the remaining quartet winning over the trip. Tricky Dicky is in fine form having won three times this summer but was caught close home by Magical Effect here earlier this month and is 1lb better off so there's nothing between them. HIGHLY SPRUNG, who won here in May, was beaten less than a length by Tricky Dicky here last month but has a big pull in the weights and looks the one to beat. Musharrif would have to be considered if the going stays fast as he comfortably won a Class 3 handicap in similar conditions here and didn't enjoy softer ground on a return visit. Dark Defender has been running in better company since scoring at Ripon in May and would have a chance if the going eases.
