Verdict

In a good handicap, New Guinea gets the call ahead of Jack Of Trumps and Aspasias Tizzy. Kerashan became disappointing towards the end of last season but, if refreshed and back to his best, cannot be ruled out of things. Jack Of Trumps ran pretty well in a valuable handicap at Goodwood last time and, with the trip having been too short for him, he can fare better today although, as with Castle Howard, a career-high winning mark will need to be achieved if either is to score. Conversely, Most Definitely is now seven pounds below the mark from which he scored at Ripon last July so cannot be ruled out on that basis, while New Guinea is very consistent and, racing from just a two-pounds higher mark than he ran from when second at Goodwood last time, comes right into things. Belanak won his maiden here last time but he made hard work of it - although today's less-quick going might help in that respect - and the runner-up has been well beaten since. Finally, from an in-form stable, the lightly-raced Aspasias Tizzy, who stays this trip well, comes right into things. Overall, though, the vote goes to New Guinea.
