NAVE may be up to the task of landing the opener, while Bonfirenight and Sir Louis are others considered. The selection improved from first run to second when making the frame at Ripon over this trip on fast ground. There is also soft ground form in the pedigree, so if the rains come it should not be an issue, and after two runs he should now be fully aware of what is required. This stiff 6f looks ideal and we will side with him. Bonfirenight ran second in a Wolverhampton maiden on debut last month, when he looked fully tuned up for his task. That may suggest that he won't find lots more improvement but we respect his chance nonetheless with that experience a positive. Sir Louis is a nicely bred colt by Compton Place and is related to winners over sprint trips. With the yard still in form it is not difficult to envisage him being good enough to have a say. Bab At The Bowster is another from a good yard, though pedigree suggests that she will be better at three, while Sejanus is not easy to assess after a couple of decidedly ordinary efforts so far, and perhaps he will be better when handicapping. It is unlikely that too many will get into this and we think that Nave can emerge in front.
