Verdict

A very tricky lady riders handicap to start the card and we will give a tentative vote to The Pen, Great View and Iberus are also expected to run well. The Pen was having her first race on the flat since joining Chris Fairhurst when winning at Beverley last month. She was three pounds out of the handicap but showed plenty of resolution to get home narrowly in a driving finish. She can only improve for that effort and looks the best option this afternoon. Great View is chasing a hat-trick following victories at Newmarket and Newbury. He hasn't been harshly treated by the handicapper and should make his presence felt again. Iberus returns from an unsuccessful spell over hurdles, but is very well treated on his best flat form. It wou;ld be no surprise to see this one go well at a decent price. Silverhay is another to consider for each-way purposes, but The Pen has plenty of scope for improvement and she gets our vote.
