    Verdict

Although done few favours by the draw in stall 14 of the 14 runners, the Ian Balding-trained Vanderlin still looks the one to beat in this six-furlong maiden. Mick Channon's Qazween would have claims if able to reproduce the same sort of form that he showed on his debut, however, a subsequently poor effort at Newbury, admittedly over a mile, is off-putting. The last mentioned holds Molaaf on earlier form but can't be certain to confirm it, while Tim Easterby's Cumbrian Crystal showed enough last term to suggest she could take a hand in similar company.
