In depth

Verdict

Gordon Elliott's KING ROONAH has had a confidence boosting run over hurdles when keeping on well late on but being beaten four lengths into third place in a handicap at Hexham following a fall at the last when 15 lengths clear in a similar race to this over course and distance and he can resume winning ways today with the main dangers rated as Storm Prospect and Emotive. The last mentioned has shown a consistent level of form in recent starts and should be thereabouts again although he could probably do with some help from the handicapper so may be booked for a place at best. Dual point winner Athoss remains a maiden under rules, while Rose Dobbin's Broadway Star has struggled over hurdles since winning a Musselburgh bumper and gave no encouragement from his chasing debut at Sedgefield recently. Lucinda Russell's Storm Prospect has been running well and has slipped to a fair mark so he has to be respected but King Roonah looked an unlucky loser here two starts ago and can gain compensation today.
