Verdict

A chance is taken here on COPPER'S GOLD who is preferred to Heez A Steel, Quiny Boy and Strobe. Lucinda Russell's gelding is stepped up in trip today for his first start in handicap company this afternoon. A mark of 96 doesn't look prohibitive and this son of Presenting looks likely to appreciate todays quicker underfoot conditions. Palos Conti has a 7lb penalty for a recent Fakenham success but that came in a weak Novices' race and he has plenty to prove now stepped up in trip. Seven Is Lucky ran well in defeat last time behind Flying Doctor at the track and needs consideration, as do the blinkered-first-time Simple Jim and the consistent Quiny Boy. Mad Moon is unexposed and a win may not be far away; he sits near the top of the shortlist. Quatro Pierji has been raised 5lb for a recent second at Ayr but he faces a big step up in trip today, Mad Moose has been holding his form well and represents connections who do well here, whilst Heez A Steel was second last time to Industrial Star at Kelso but George Charlton's runner is winless in 17. At a price Golden Banjo should be monitored for market support as he travels over from Ireland after a long break and he is still unexposed over hurdles, but whilst top-weight Strobe needs consideration, it is Copper's Gold who is preferred.
