Verdict

Flownaway made light work of his opponents at Carlisle last time and Howard Johnson's gelding is taken to follow up, with King Eider and Merryvale Man rated the main dangers. The selection was a useful stayer on the flat when with Willie Jarvis and looked sure to make a winning start to his new career until falling at the last at Musselburgh in January. The son of Polar Falcon hurdled more fluently at Carlisle earlier this month and a reproduction of that effort should suffice. Nicky Henderson's King Eider probably did not beat a great deal when winning at Wincanton last month and was put in his place in a handicap at Newbury subsequently. A bigger threat then may come from Merryvale Man, who beat the useful Bob The Piler two starts ago but looked held by the selection when unseating last time. The remainder make very limited appeal although Hutch did at least show a modicum of ability last time. However, he, and the others, need to improve an awful lot to trouble Flownaway who is taken to give Howard Johnson another winner.
