In depth

Verdict

Water Taxi deserves to get his head in front having found one too good in each of his last two starts but Ferdy Murphy's gelding has yet to prove that he stays this far and a better bet looks to be Spirit Calling, who gets the vote with Yankee Holiday rated the pick of the remainder. The selection has shown improved form of late, winning over course and distance before staying on well into a close third behind Loita Hills on a return visit last month. A reproduction of either of those efforts would make Lucinda Russell's gelding hard to beat. Drumnavaddy Lough has paid the penalty at the hands of the handicapper for his recent successes in Ireland and looks best watched now, while former pointer Ballyholland has given little sign of encouragement of late. Sue Bradburne's Yankee Holiday has shown a consistent level of form of late and should again be thereabouts but Spirit Calling has solid claims and he is preferred.
