In depth

Verdict

This race sets the tone for the rest of the card and Camille Pissarro is a tentative choice to beat Laurel Dawn and Piccleyes. The selection had shown very little before winning at Southwell last time. His turf form over the past year has been very poor but he was running off marks in the high eighties. He could still be better than this grade and he is taken to land first prize. Laurel Dawn hasn't won for some time but has put in some good efforts in defeat, including an excellent second behind Foxies Future over this trip at Southwell. If he can transfer that form back to the turf he should be involved in the finish. Piccleyes has been running much better than his form figures suggest and he could go close at a decent price. The pick of the others could be Enjoy The Buzz, but Camille Pissarro is in top form at present and gets the vote.
