Verdict

A tough handicap for punters with many holding chances. Brave Call's stable are not in the greatest of form but the horse still looks potentially unexposed and he gets our tentative selection. John Hills' charge looked a likely winner at Newmarket but may have just felt the effects of a lay-off from a fair effort in the Britannia Handicap. Swift Tango was arguably given too much to do at Epsom last time out and could do better if much more positive tactics are employed on this occasion. Geoff Wragg's string are in better form of late and Mezuzah is his representative here. The handicapper has been none-too-kind of late and there is a suspicion that a softer surface would suit. Blonde Streak has run creditably in Northern handicaps over a mile. Today represents a step up in class. Sailing Through has gone up the handicap to a career high mark and has struggled off this on two previous occasions. Brave Call looks a brave call for punters in the third race.
