In depth

Verdict

Desert Spirit showed improvement on previous efforts for the step up to this trip when a close third in a competitive York handicap earlier in the month and, racing off the same mark, gets the TEAMtalk nod in a difficult contest. Bedazzled has shown plenty of promise in maidens and looks on a fair mark for his handicap bow while Little Malvern shaped well when a staying-on fourth in a valuable sales race at the Leger meeting last week and looks sure to go well off his current mark. La Campanella has shown herself to be a useful performer at this level but is more exposed than most and could be vulnerable while Lurramio steps up from selling company and faces no easy task.
