      Verdict

      After a most promising debut, CLAN ROYALE was backed as if defeat was not contemplated at Goodwood in late May but could only manage third spot. Subsequently gelded, the Varian inmate returns to action here and is well worth another chance, especially when taking into account his initial run when second to Expressionist. No Mercy will not make life easy after posting a quartet of likeable efforts but Upstate New York disappointed last time at Chester, though should appreciate the extra furlong here and is not one to give up on. Danyah and Panic Room are newcomers of interest and it will interesting to see how they fare in the market.
