In depth

Verdict

STAR ROVER was a distance winner on debut at the last time of asking and is the only horse with any appeal in this opener. The colt's nearest challenger look to be Royal Desert and Gillburg. The selection was successful in a maiden last time out and looks set to double his tally with a win here today in fairly poor company. The colt is sprint bred and connections intend to make hay while they can. Royal Desert makes his career debut here today and will appreciate the low draw. The colt has the weight of the Mick Channon yard behind him and we expect the colt to do well here and he should get the better of fellow newcomer Gillburg. The two-year-old's yard is in good form of late and the colt should follow suit here today. With very little form to go on here a market check is advised as it may hold the clues to the rest, but for us we cannot look beyond Star Rover.
