In depth

Verdict

The ease in grade could be enough to spark a revival in the fortunes of Etching, who is given the chance to atone for a poor run at Ripon last month; possibly at the main expense of Madiba and Herne Bay, who are closely matched judging by their previous encounter when there was little between them at Southwell. The weights favour a reversal in form with Madiba coming out on top in that personal battle this time around. A number of the rest have been holding their own in low-grade handicaps but it will not be surprising if the likes of My Legal Eagle, Saxe Coburg and True Companion all come in for a fair amount of support. However, they will all have to go some to out-stay Etching if she is in the same frame of mind that saw her victorious on her last visit to this course and she is sure to be given a positive ride now that Johnny Murtagh is doing the steering.
