Verdict

The booking of McCoy for Charles Street takes the eye, Kells Castle makes the short-list too but it may be worth taking a chance with SKIPPER'S LAD. This may not prove to be as competitive as numbers suggest as few of this field come into the race in any sort of form. Charles Street has always been a consistent performer but he has struggled to win races over fences and is opposable at a short price. Classic Clover is far from consistent but is useful on his day but Joe Tizzard partners Skipper's Lad. He has shown improved form since being returned to fences this summer and is unexposed after just four starts over the larger obstacles. He needs to pull out a little more in order to open his account but could find it over this longer trip. Kells Castle went close at Perth in May but has failed to run to that level in three subsequent starts. He's been freshened up by a break since then and may be able to return to his best. Quil Est Beau is another that can be given a chance on the form that he showed when winning at Worcester in July but he's offered little in two subsequent outings. There are few with solid claims in this line-up but Skipper's Lad comes into the race on the back of a couple of solid runs and may take the honours.
