In depth

Verdict

Nigel Twiston-Davies has had a couple of winners in the past week and can continue the good work with THE NEW ONE. Twice a winning bumper before a fine run in the Champion Bumper at Cheltenham, he got back to winning ways in the Grade 2 Champion Bumper at Aintree and, as his dam was a hurdler, he looks one to follow this season. Kartanian won bumpers at Worcester and Chepstow on his first two starts in 2010 but failed to make an impression in two runs over hurdles. He can do better and the lack of a run is rarely a problem for one of Philip Hobbs' runners. Roger Beantown is another with a long absence to overcome and he's now with his third trainer though it won't have done him any harm to transfer to Paul Nicholls. An impressive bumper winner in Ireland on his opening run, he's one to keep an eye on for the future.
