In a very good line-up for the Cambridgeshire, Pinpoint gets the vote ahead of Cesare, Spectait and Fairmile. Working through the field and Boule d'Or and Royal Alchemist have been running fairly well in Group races of late and have a touch of class, while Cesare, who looked a little unlucky in a good Newbury Listed race last time, for which he is set to be raised by three pounds in the ratings, is entitled to every respect. Despite having been raised ten pounds for a Glorious Goodwood win, Spectait's trainer knows what it takes to win a race of this nature and he is respected. Rohaani has something to find on that Goodwood form but Dunelight is closely weighted with him based on it. Take A Bow has some solid Listed-race form and it would be no surprise to see him go well, while Smart Enough rates as very progressive, although a nine-pounds rise for his York win means he needs to improve again. Fairmile rates as progressive and competitive, while given that they are each due to go up by three pounds in future ratings, Dark Islander and Charlie Cool have to be considered. The latter was beaten by Pinpoint at Newbury last time and, working through Royal Hunt Cup form, Pinpoint holds a solid chance of reversing the form with the winner, Cesare, and fourth, Hinterland. Salinja bagged a valuable handicap at Newbury in the summer and his chance is no forlorn one, while Blue Bajan has hit form at the right time and could go well at a big price. Capable Guest is the type that could enjoy trying to weave his way through runners, while Pearly King is another that is set to rise by three pounds in the weights following his run behind Pinpoint at Newbury, and the progressive Formal Decree is set to rise by two after finishing third in the same contest. Finally, Red Spell has dropped to a potentially-interesting mark, and it would be no surprise to see the likes of Ace Of Hearts and Blythe Knight go well from their current ratings. As we say, it all adds up to a very good race, with the section being Pinpoint.
