In depth

Verdict

In an interesting maiden, Al Tharib gets the call ahead of Express Wish and Murbek. Al Tharib looks set to improve on his promising debut third at Leicester an he can go well today. Murbek's Sandown debut second suggested that he has a race of this nature in him and he too has to be seriously considered with that experience under his belt. Rudry Dragon has some good blood in him and can improve on his debut run here, while Desert Dew's Newmarket debut indicated promise, and the nicely-bred Express Wish has to be considered form the Jeremy Noseda stable. Giovanni d'Oro is another to give some thought to, having cost 270,000 guineas, while Yaroslav also catches our attention, and he cost 170,000 dollars. Among the other interestingly-bred newcomers are Ardmaddy, Cat de Mille, Guiseppe Verdi, Mount Hadley and Urban Spirit, while it will be interesting to see what the market says about Aidan O'Brien's Mount Parnassus. It all adds up to an interesting maiden, in which the vote stays with Al Tharib.
