Verdict

HIGHER POWER won the Northumberland Plate in July but has faced difficult tasks in pattern company either side of that success. Second to Big Orange earlier this year, he’s failed to figure in both the Goodwood Cup and the Lonsdale Cup at York subsequently but will find life easier in this. Winning Story, Uae King and Face The Facts have also come up short in pattern races so far but Nearly Caught won the Esher stakes at Sandown during the summer and Platitude landed a Listed race at Goodwood last season. Arch Villain ran well in the Ebor on his seasonal debut when ahead of Winning Story and is not out of this back over 2m.
