Verdict

The vote here goes to Bahamian Pirate, with Iffraaj, Quito, Ashdown Express and Lafi all getting mentions. Last year's Nunthorpe winner Bahamian Pirate certainly has conditions to suit and can still be competitive, even at 10 years of age. As such, we'll take a punt on him here. We are big fans of Iffraaj but soft going seemed to find him out last time and might do so again, although market confidence would be interesting. Vortex is as tough as teak but he has yet to show form on soft, but Quito is tremendously admirable, is holding his form very well and all going comes alike to him. Ashdown Express has plenty of ability and, even though he struggles to get his head in front these days, it will happen at some point. The Stewards Cup eighth, Lafi, has been running well this year and could get amongst the money and, finally, Moss Vale has ability but maybe has a few pounds to find before we could suggest him to win, and Traytonic has even more to find. Once again, then, overall the vote goes to Bahamian Pirate.
