In depth

Verdict

A fascinating juvenile event with plenty to consider but Azarole can put racecourse experience to good use and gets our nomination. His second to Menfee on his debut reads very well and gives him, on what we so far know, every chance here. Of the others, After The Show displayed promise on his debut but others are preferred today. Fyodor also showed debut promise and should improve again, but will need to. A similar comment applies to Mandobi, third on his debut at Haydock behind Peak To Creek. Monte Bianco was well beaten on his debut, although that was a decent event over this course and distance. The Violin Player and Vengerov have something to like on breeding but, again, the selection is preferred. Of the debutants, Sir Michael Stoute's True catches the eye most of all. A well-bred Barathea filly, the market might prove the best guide to her chances. Overall, though, we'll stick with racetrack experience, and that points to Azarole.
