Verdict

A terrific renewal of this Group three event and it can fall to Mubtaker, Kong and Acropolis appear to be the main dangers. Marcus Tregoning's eight-year-old is chasing a hat-trick of victories having landed a decent listed event at Goodwood, before beating Brahminy Kite in a match at Doncaster. This is probably he toughest test of the season but he should be up to the task. Acropolis represents the powerful Ballydoyle team and last year's Arc fourth must have strong claims. He hasn't reached those dizzy heights since, but has to be considered in this company. Kong landed the Lingfield Derby trial before running poorly in the big race itself. He failed to stay the Leger trip last time but over today's distance on ground that should suite he should play a major role. Compton Bolter returned to winning ways last time and looks the pick of the others, but Mubtaker cannot be ignored in this mood and can make it three in a row.
