In depth

Verdict

A pretty competitive finale with a clutch of improving three-year-olds taking on older horses. Godolphin’s Major Partnership makes his handicap debut after winning novice events here and at Thirsk with an opening mark of 93 probably about right. Argentello races off the same mark but was only third on his handicap bow over track and trip. HISTORY WRITER was most impressive at Sandown at the start of the month and should again beat third Statuario. The ease in the ground suited him that day and he’ll face similar conditions this evening. Fastar is starting to look well treated and may be best of the rest ahead of Battle Of Marathon, Mazyoun and Mutarakez, though further rain would improve the chances of Isomer.
