In depth

Verdict

From our shortlist that contains Highland Diva, Elraawy, Mont Saint Michel and Top The Charts, we will side with Highland Diva. The market will provide some big clues here but we will take the chance on Highland Diva, who is by Selkirk and from the same family as Prince Of Dance and Sun Princess, and she showed plenty of promise on her sole start to date and, even though that race has not worked out that well, she has to be very high on the shortlist of possibles for this contest. It is hard to get enthusiastic about most of these but at least Elraawy showed promise behind Bahaar Shumaal at Sandown last time, and the fifth from that race has won since. Finalmente has a middle distance pedigree, while John Gosden's Climate Change showed little on his debut. Jamaar is very well-bred, but she will need to step up markedly on her sole start to date, although, as we say, this is not a strong affair. An obvious contender, though, is Mont Saint Michel, who has shown form that equates to around the mid-70s mark, which is more than enough to be competitive tonight, while Top The Charts' form can be rated slightly higher and he looks primed to go close. Overall, then, unless the betting tells a different story, we will side with Highland Diva.
