Verdict

CROWN caught the eye on debut and may be able to progress sufficiently to take this prize. Habaayib, Mexican Milly and Six Wives are three of the likelier looking debutantes. Crown managed to find a bit of trouble at Bath after a slow start and never looked likely to reel in the runaway Chicita Banana who had already had the benefit of a run. She did, however, stay on quite strongly in the closing stages and she can step up on that form here. Habaayib made 130,000 guineas and is by Royal Applause who gets plenty of early two year-olds and is from a yard that has made a good start. Barry Hills won this race in 2006 and 2007 and he relies on Mexican Milly who was knocked down for just seven thousand six hundred pounds last month but that won't stop her from being able to run. Silver Symphony is by Pastoral Pursuits, himself a speedy juvenile, whose first two year olds are in action this year and the booking of Ryan Moore takes the eye for a yard who have already gone close with one of their juvenile runners. Six Wives, Starburst Excel and It's Alright all make varying degrees of appeal too but we'll take Crown to come out on top.
