In depth

Verdict

There was an awful lot to like about the debut run of Daring Ransom, who gets a confident vote to follow up. Possibly at the main expense of Santa Fe and Rocamadour, who deserves a change of fortune after some near misses last term. The last named was unlucky enough to come up against the very useful Comic Strip when he was last seen out and was far from disgraced in defeat. He looks sure to be a popular choice today. So does Santa Fe, who still has all the fancy entries and looks sure to improve when he is stepped up in trip. That is not to say he is without a chance here and market support will give a solid indication as to where the shrewd Newmarket money is going. We fancy a lot of it will be going towards Daring Ransom if the prices are not too restricting and Jeremy Noseda's charge, who shaped with plenty of promise last term, can enhance his own Guineas claims if all goes to plan this afternoon.
