Verdict

An open renewal with Forest Ranger arriving out of form and penalised for an earlier Group 2 success in the Huxley at Chester. Gabr won a Listed contest at Goodwood last month and can figure while Hathal finished runner-up at Sandown on only his second start of the year and is preferred to the likes of Euginio and Snowy Winter. William Haggas won this in 2016 and Awesometank is weighted to beat stablemate Beshaayir but Lucius Tiberius has struggled since winning a couple of handicaps during the summer. TRAIS FLUORS (NAP) had little chance behind the brilliant Alpha Centauri at Deauville and was left with too much to do when slowly away in the Summer Mile at Ascot before that. Beaten only a neck in a Group 3 at Chantilly in June, a repeat may well see him take this prize back to France for Andre Fabre’s yard.
