Verdict

The most valuable event on the card has predictably produced a highly competitive field and marginal preference goes to Mine while Uhoomagoo, Yafoul and Sea Storm rate the main dangers. The James Bethell-trained entire put put up a career best effort when landing last year's Bunbury Cup and has looked as good as ever this term. The son of Primo Dominie showed the benefit of his seasonal reappearance when scoring at Doncaster in May before overcoming trouble in running to reach a place in a highly competitive handicap at Royal Ascot. The selection failed by a short head to reel in subsequent Stewards Cup hero Patavellian in this year's renewal of the Bunbury Cup but was beaten by the draw on his latest start at Ascot. Although best with cut in the ground, his effort at Royal Ascot shows that he handles faster conditions and he has he class to concede weight all round. Uhoomagoo has proved a consistent performer this year, scoring twice at Wolverhampton and Ayr, and had Sea Storm behind when unlucky in running at Chester last time. However, he remains 6lb higher compared to his last success and this represents a higher grade while the lightly raced Yafoul is open to plenty of improvement but lacks the experience to compete at this level. Winning venture is on a longish losing sequence and is passed over while Certain Justice may find conditions too quick so Mine looks the answer to a tricky event.
