Verdict

This is a typically competitive renewal of the 1000 Guineas and from a shortlist of Natagora, Infallible and Spacious we will nominate Infallible to land the prize. John Gosden has had a great start to the season and this filly looks to have a rock solid chance on the back of her win here last month in the Nell Gwyn. The manner of her success that day marked her down as a definite 1000 Guineas contender and as she still ran green in that race there should be plenty more improvement in the tank. Natagora won the Cheveley Park Stakes here back in October and then she proved that she can go well over an extra furlong when winning over in France last time out. She has the proven form in the book, but we think Infallible might just be able to improve past her today. Spacious is a big, scopey filly and there was plenty to like about the way she won at Doncaster when last seen out. She is clearly useful but it is difficult to evaluate the strength of that Doncaster race and she will need to have improved over the winter to land this. Muthabara will have obvious claims if she takes her chance, but she had an injury scare in the build up to the race and she may not be risked. The Godolphin runner Laureldean Gale clearly has plenty of ability and she was backed to win this race before she had even been seen out in public, but she was very disappointing when last seen out and she is hard to recommend on the back of that below-par effort. Kitty Matcham and Savethisdanceforme are others worth a mention and they might be capable of running into a place, but Infallible looks a really smart filly and she can provide John Gosden with yet another winner.
