Verdict

It’s difficult to make a case for top weight Lustrous Light or the returning Harmonise in this but WINSTON C was having only his second start of the campaign when runner-up to The Grand Vizir at Doncaster a week ago. He is suited by give in the ground and is back over a winning trip today. Derek Duval tries a new distance and needs a faster surface but conditions won’t concern Compton Mill, who is only 2lb higher than when scoring at Sandown in August, though he needs forgiving a poor run last time at Nottingham. Hawridge Flyer beat War Brigade in a maiden last year and he’s been unlucky not to add to his tally this season so looks a bigger threat to the selection than Purple Rock and Nietzsche.
