Verdict

As is normally the case there is a small field for the Challenge Whip with just the four runners facing the starter and it may be worth siding with BOTHY, who disappointed off the same mark that he races off today in the Glasgow Stakes at Hamilton last time in May but he had earlier won his maiden in good fashion and, back after a break, he gets the vote over Beauchamp Wizard and Dreamwalk. Ralph Beckett's gelding has been running consistently well of late and should be thereabouts again. He makes more appeal than Sylvester Kirk's Opera Prince, who is yet to reproduce the level of form that he showed as a three-year-old. Gerard Butler's Beauchamp Wizard did not run up to his best on the Polytrack at Kempton last time but previous form was solid and he has to be considered but preference is for Bothy, who gets the vote in the hope that his run last time was not his true showing.
