In depth

Verdict

Despite being raised four pounds for his Epsom win, Blythe Knight can win again, with Putra Kuantan and King's Thought rated as his biggest dangers. Frankie Dettori rides the selection very well, because the colt does not find a tremendous amount when he hits the front. However, that could mean that he has become a little difficult for the handicapper to assess, a point that will be tested this afternoon. He won by a short head at Epsom, with King's Thought, now four pounds better off, five-and-a-half lengths away in fourth, so that one holds chances too. On his seasonal return, the selection finished fourth at Kempton, two-and-a-half lengths ahead of Putra Kuantan, who is now six pounds better off, so this course and distance winner clearly holds a solid chance too. Others to watch out for are Promotion, a lightly-raced and nicely-bred Sir Michael Stoute runner, French import Tresor Secret, the dependable Pagan Sky, and Mark Johnston's Akash. It's certainly a race to keep a close eye but, for today, we think current form holds the key and, as such, we will stick with Blythe Knight.
