Verdict

Glan Y Gors has been winning over shorter trips but was only eighth in this last year and MONDAIN makes more appeal. The latter has been struggling in tougher handicaps than this but Mark Johnston returns him to 2m for the first time since winning by a wide-margin at Thirsk last summer and he gets the vote. Progressive in 2018, Author's Dream bounced back with a victory at Sandown a fortnight ago and remains on a winning mark while the returning Contrebasse has won over 2m but Al Kout has a run under his belt having placed behind Australis at Wolverhampton. New Society is fitted with headgear on his reappearance and makes more appeal than Firlinfeu and Fleeting Visit over today’s distance.
